The FIFA video game produced by Electronic Arts and one of the most popular in the world will not continue under the same name.

FIFA 23 will be the last edition of the game, due to disagreements over the licenses that broke the partnership between FIFA and EA Sports.

FIFA has demanded a doubling of its $ 150 million annual fees from EA to renew the contract, according to The New York Times.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the amount was very high, and at one point said FIFA offered nothing more than “four letters on the front of the box”.

Thus, EA Sports will produce a football video game under a new name: EA Sports FC.

The new game will feature all the clubs, teams, and stadiums that fans love, but the branding has changed and the FIFA-sponsored World Cup will be removed from the content.

In the meantime, FiFA will be looking for a new game developer, which will be a challenge, given that the Premier League and the Champions League have contractual obligations to EA Sports.

Since its launch in 1993, the game has generated sales of over $ 20 billion.
